POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Loras College Enrollment Management Division, the assistant director of financial planning coordinates financial aid information and processing. The assistant director is knowledgeable and current in their understanding of federal, state and institutional aid. The assistant director administers various forms of student financial aid, assists with award processing, disbursement, compliance monitoring and reporting. The assistant director works directly with students and families to understand and support their unique financial circumstances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborate and aid the Director of Financial Planning in the management of Title IV compliance, internal/external audits, and federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Handle confidential work with tact and discretion.
  • Engage with state and federal meetings, activities, and workshops as necessary for professional development.
  • Work effectively with multiple campus offices to serve students, including admission, advancement, business office, registrar, and academic affairs. student and residence life.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior in working with confidential information.
  • Assist students and parents in the completion of financial aid applications.
  • Package incoming and returning student awards.
  • Manage private loan certification and disbursement processes.
  • Communicate cost and aid process for study abroad applicants.
  • Communicate complex information effectively to groups and one on one.
  • Manage annual review of Loras College Financial Aid website and net price calculator.
  • Participate in student orientation sessions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience: Previous work experience in a financial setting, preferably in a college/university environment.

Computer Skills: Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Competency with complex software applications, specifically database and web-based tools.

Other Requirements: Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents, and other college employees, using a teamwork approach. Ability to think creatively to improve processes as it relates to our students and families' experience. Fluent in Spanish preferred.
